No Latin is kinda all star quartet of Alessio Menconi’s new cd entitled “Historias” which makes use of illustrious participations: Elio, Faso, Gegè Telesforo, Nick The Nightfly, Dado Moroni, Simona Bencini, and other super guests.
Latin America has a great history of migrations, encounters of cultures and ethnic groups, and each song on this record has its own stylistic location and its own “history”. Precisely for this reason I decided to call it “Historias”.
The super-quartet offers songs taken from the CD and other original compositions or covers, with a sound that includes Latin American music, jazz and pop.

Diego Ramirez is a Mexican latin jazz pianist and composer. His recent original compositions, available in both CD and vinyl, are entitled “Sketches of Mexico”. Described as musical paintings of Mexico, the album is a tribute to Diego’s homeland.
His last original piano CD “El Ultimo Chilam Balam” was named Best Jazz Album by the LA Music Awards, and it featured his Mayan jazz and latin jazz pieces. Diego has also released other recordings featuring classic piano jazz, “Jazzonia” and “Ramirez Plays Legrand”.
The press acknowledged the talent of this composer:
“Solo Pianist Diego Ramirez played his U.S. debut and simply mesmerized the audience. His skill and composing abilities are exciting and extraordinary, and full of passion.” – Jazz USA online.
“Diego Ramirez was spectacular…His pianistic brilliance and staggering creative energy were a joy to behold.” – Flavors of Festival (PDX JAZZ)
Diego Ramirez “demonstrated impeccable technique, a broad emotional and dynamic range, and an understanding of the jazz and latin jazz tradition. ”His performance “demonstrated Ramirez’s ability to traverse considerable territory, from a delicate touch to great power.” -John Kelman, from All About Jazz online.
This latin jazz pianist studied at the prestigious National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City for 10 years before branching out on his own to study and perform jazz. He has extensive performance experience, participating in many jazz festivals, clubs, hotels and concerts from the USA and Mexico to Berlin and Europe. He currently performs in Los Cabos, Mexico, with singer, Daline Jones. Often on tour together, they also have several albums.
Diego’s piano and classical music teachers include Maestra Irina Lieberman from Czechoslovakia, Maestros Jose Luis Arcaraz, Guillermo Salvador, Christina de la Vega, Adrian Grand and jazz/harmony with Juan Millan. Diego’s music and compositions are influenced by his admiration for Mexican classical composers Silvestre Revueltas, Manuel M. Ponce, and Carlos Chavez. He was also influenced by improvisational musicians such as Miles Davis and by Leonard Bernstein.
His latin jazz style, full of groove and colours, culminate into his last fantastic album “Sketches of México”, available at the following links:

22 October 2018ArtistsVideos / DiegoRamirez / VideoCantaloupe Island (Herbie Hancock) played by Diego Ramirez on a Bechstein grand piano
Diego Ramirez plays “Cantaloupe Island”, from Herbie Hancock, on a Bechstein grand piano from the late 19th century.
It was the 22nd October 2017 and we was in tour with The Organic Monster Project: Voice – Yan Roads, Double Bass – Oscar Huerta, Drums and Percussions – Tzoru Cruz.
Here we was in a secret place in an enchanted valley in Alsace, France, close to the smallest, cute and beautiful medieval village. Diego couldn’t wait to play that piano and, once he did it, it was magic…
